Former Vanderbilt basketball star Karen Booker is Trevecca’s new women’s coach

Former Franklin and Vanderbilt women’s basketball star Karen Booker is the new coach at Trevecca.

She replaces Chad Hibdon, who resigned in March soon after his sixth time.

“I want to deliver a large amount of technique I figured out from a large amount of distinct coaches a lot of diverse models and I have taken little bits and parts from every person to create my philosophy,” Booker claimed Thursday. “A good deal of what I’m about is enthusiasm for the sport, remaining organized, teamwork and then based on your faith.”

Booker was a basketball and track star at Franklin. She designed The Tennessean All-Nashville Interscholastic League basketball workforce as a senior in 1983. She finished next in the regional pentathlon that similar year.

At Vanderbilt Booker scored 1,533 occupation details and had 1,096 rebounds. She produced the All-SEC initial group and All-The united states third workforce as a senior.

Trevecca athletics director Mark Elliott, who was an assistant coach at Vanderbilt just just before Booker arrived, claimed he received about 150 purposes for the position.

Booker, whose brother Barry also played basketball at Vanderbilt and is an SEC television broadcaster, spent the 1991-92 year as an assistant on Vanderbilt mentor Jim Foster’s team and then grew to become the mentor at Cal Poly and Sewanee.

She later had assistant coaching stints in the WNBA with the Detroit Shock, Utah Starzz and Houston Comets.

Booker also coached in the National Women’s Basketball League with the Colorado Chill.
